Marine Division

The Marine Patrol Division commanded by Sergeant Chris Slagle has the responsibility for law enforcement services in the recreational areas of Ellis County. This area includes, but is not limited to, Bardwell, Bell Branch Ranch, Camp Hobilitzelle, Cement Plant, Cherry, Crossroads, Diamond J Ranch, Fort, Gifford-Hill, Griffith Reservoir, Hefner Number 1, Hefner Number 2, Hi-View Ranch, Johnson, Katy, Clark, Clopton, Waxahachie, Massey, Old City, Old Lake, Range Reservoir, Sand and Wilemon lakes.

The Marine Patrol Division is composed of highly trained Deputies who possess a large variety of skills and abilities such as the operation of four-wheel-drive vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, patrol boats, and jet skis. All Marine Patrol Deputies are certified.

If you visit the lakes of Ellis County, the Sheriff's Office hopes you have a great time, but also strongly encourages you to obey the laws and to use common sense. It is the Sheriff's Office's goal to eliminate needless tragedies and its greatest tool in this effort is education.
