Training Academy

The mission of the Training Division is to instill the highest level of professionalism and continuing education to all sworn peace officers and detention officers within the county. Through a higher standard of in-service and firearms training, we ensure the citizens of Ellis County are getting the best from all of their sworn officers.

The Training Division is commanded by one Lieutenant. The division employs four full-time Deputies, with multiple years of experience from the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office. Together our staff oversees all continuing education, seminars, and firearms training. The Training Division is housed within the training academy, located at the Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Center off of Farm-to-Market Road 878 and near its intersection with U.S. Highway 287 in Waxahachie, Texas.

All classes and seminars are open to any sworn peace officer, detention officer and, in some cases, open to members of the District Attorney’s Office, probation officers, and educators.
