The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Civil Division is commanded by a Lieutenant and two Sergeants. There are four sections within the Civil Division consisting of civil process, warrants, criminal transport, and judicial . One Sergeant supervises the judicial section and the other supervises the civil process, warrants, and criminal transport divisions.
The Ellis County Sheriff's Office has three Deputies assigned to the Civil Division. These Deputies work civil process that comes out of the District, County and Justice of the Peace Courts. The Civil Division has two Deputies assigned to serving various types of papers such as criminal and civil subpoenas, summonses, citations, protective orders and attorney general paperwork. The Civil Division has one Deputy assigned to writs. This Deputy serves writs such as executions, attachment, garnishments and possessions. This Deputy is also responsible for Sheriff sales, tax sales and impounded livestock sales.
